Well, it looks like Outfielder Yasiel Puig will not be signing with the Braves after all. Just last week, Puig reportedly agreed to a contract with the Braves, but announced that he has tested positive for the COVID-19 on Twitter. Fortunately, Puig is asymptomatic and feeling fine, but will need two negative tests before he’s eligible to return to play baseball. I guess that was enough to rattle the Atlanta Braves to back out of the deal. Remember, the deal was pending a physical and it is unclear if the Braves will circle back to Puig in the near future. The only positive news the Braves received on Friday was first baseman Freddie Freeman being cleared to return to action with the team.
