It was a welcome back to Yankee Stadium for Didi Gregorious and Joe Girardi as they come in wearing Phillies uniforms, but Gerrit Cole pitched effectively in his first game in Yankee pinstripes. The Yankees did not need any Aaron Judge Home Runs because DJ LeMahieu, Gio Ursela and Brett Gardner provided all the power to beat the Phillies 6-3 in the Bronx. Geritt Cole gives up 5 hits on 1 run with 1 walk and 4 Ks in 6 innings before a rain delay.
In the top of the 7th inning, the Yankees have a 6-1 cushion coming out of the rain delay and Aaron Boone goes with Brooks Kriske, Chad Green and Luis Avilan from the bullpen. There seems to be a hick-up when Boone puts in Avilan and Kriske as both are giving up a lot of hits and runs. Luckily, Zack Britton worked a clean 9th inning to earn his 4th Save of the season. Another big night for Gio Urshela offensively and defensively as the Bronx Bombers win their 7th straight game and have best record in baseball at 8-1.
