Yankees Bullpen Keeps Delivering in Win vs Red Sox

LeMahieu continued his clutch hitting and unfathomable streak with RISP, by hitting a 2-run single in the 2nd inning off of Rick Porcello.

“Scary” Gary Sanchez continued his power surge by hitting a 2-run go-ahead Home run in the 5th. As of today, Sanchez has 18HR and 35 RBI’s and it’s only the beginning of June. It ended up being the game winning hit as the Red Sox offense was held in check by another perfect outing by the Yankees bullpen.

Aaron Boone pulled Domingo German in the 4th after a high pitch outing and decided to go to Chad Green to finish the inning. The Yankee reliever recorded 1 out with one pitch and the rest was history as the Yankees bullpen threw 5⅓ scoreless against Boston Saturday night. Adam Ottavino, Tommy Kahnle, Jonathan Holder, Zack Britton, and Aroldis Chapman have been stellar in this dominant run holding the Red Sox to 13 scoreless innings.

“We’ve played really well, there’s no question,” Boone said as his team surged to 38-19. “And we’ve done it in a lot of different ways. Tonight was a battle. It was a heavyweight fight out there.”

Chapman recorded his 17th save of the season, second most in the A.L.  DET-S.Green (18) The Pinstripes have won 9 straight series and have a 9.5 game lead over Boston, their largest since 2015.

The Red Sox are now 0-4 against the Yankees this season and will try try to avoid the sweep as David Price who owns a 9.80 ERA at Yankee Stadium takes on C.C Sabathia who is returning from the injury list and is looking for the 250th win of his career.
