Santa Maria! Aaron Judge has hit a Home Run in 5 straight games. Alex Rodriguez was the last Yankee to hit a Home Run in five consecutive games back in 2007. The game was going to be a wild one from the beginning as James Paxton had another ugly pitching performance in his second start. Paxton gave up 7 hits, 5 runs with 4 Ks before the bullpen came in to salvage the game. Offensively, Paxton got plenty of help from his team, but defensively his outfield did let him down as we saw Miguel Andujar play a routine single into a 3-base error and a mis-cue fly ball from Judge and Hicks that fell between them.
Michael King pitched 3 2/3 innings and gave up 2 runs with 4 K’s and as always Aaron Boone was one pitch too late in the top of the 7th inning with Adam Ottavino ready in the bullpen when Rafael Devers hit a Home Run to break the tie as the Red Sox go up 7-6. The Yankees came back to even the score in the bottom of the 8th inning, but the night belonged to Aaron Judge who hit his 2nd Home Run of the game and go ahead 2-run blast to right center in the same inning to finish with 6 RBIs.
In the top of the 9th inning, Zack Britton comes in with a 2-run lead to close it out and earn the save. The Yankees complete a 3-game sweep as they come from behind to beat the Red Sox 9-7 in an empty Yankee Stadium. New York wins 6 straight and has the best record in baseball at 7-1…
