By all accounts, Cody Bellinger had a forgettable regular season at the plate.
But with one swing, he erased it all and delivered the biggest hit of the Dodgers’ season, a two-strike RBI single in the ninth to help Los Angeles beat San Francisco, 2-1, in a thrilling Game 5 of the NL Division Series on Thursday night.
Through eight innings, the Dodgers and Giants had the same number of runs, hits, and men left on base.
Both teams also came into Thursday’s hgame with 109 wins this season.
Now, the Dodgers will turn to a rematch in the NL Championship Series against the Atlanta Braves starting on Saturday.
But of course, the biggest play of the game turned into one of the biggest controversial calls in recent post season history that just so happened to end the game and send the Dodgers to the NLCS.
Did Flores go all the way around?
Here is a look at the controversial strike three call that ended the series.
