Two off-duty officers of the Port St. Lucie Police Department are being credited with saving a man who attempted to end his own life.

The incident was reported over the weekend in Palm Beach Gardens.

According to the report, Officer Corey Krecic, Det. Michael Oliver, and a K-9 officer were shopping at the Palm Beach Gardens Mall when they noticed a man on the second floor looking over the balcony near the food court.

The man then fashioned a rope into a noose, tied it to the railing, and put the noose around his neck. As the man began to lean over the railing again, the officers grabbed him and pulled him to safety.

Palm Beach Gardens Police were called to the scene and took the man to a facility for a mental health evaluation.
