Three players ejected after brawl between Bengals, Dolphins

The Dolphins need to dial it down according to their coach Brian Flores. During yesterday’s 19-7 win over Cincinnati, a fight broke out after a late hit on Miami’s punt returner… and two Dolphins were ejected.

Head coach Brian Flores almost got involved, and he said afterward he and his team need to show better poise. Flores had to be held back first by Bengals safety Vonn Bell and then pulled back toward his own sideline by his own players and coaches. He went toward the Bengals’ sideline, apparently yelling at Bengals coaches.

Both benches emptied along the Bengals sideline as emotions ran high.

In all, three players were ejected in the fight: Dolphins receivers Mack Hollins and DaVante Parker and Bengals safety Shawn Williams. That followed a brief altercation from earlier in the game, when Cincinnati’s Tyler Boyd and Miami’s Xavien Howard were both ejected after “throwing punches.”

The player who started the fisticuffs, Bengals receiver Mike Thomas, remained in the game. Thomas hit punt returner Jakeem Grant twice in a row before Grant caught the punt. Thomas drew penalties on both plays, but the Dolphins took exception to the second illegal hit that left Grant briefly injured.

The game became chippy in the first half. Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard and Bengals receiver Tyler Boyd were ejected for throwing punches at each other.

While the Dolphins won the game against the Bengals, the NFL will likely be looking into the entire situation involving both teams in Week 13.

Meanwhile, the Fins improve to 8-and-4 with the win, and they’ll host the defending Super Bowl champs, Kansas City, next Sunday.
