The Tampa Bay Lightning’s quest for history is over.
The team was attempting to become the first to win the Stanley Cup in three consecutive seasons since the New York Islanders won four straight championships from 1980-83.
Instead, the Lightning lost 2-1 in Game 6 of the 2022 Stanley Cup Final to the champion Colorado Avalanche last night.
Lightning captain Steven Stamkos said the team’s chance to get in the record books is over, but their resolve to win another title is not.
He told reporters, “Who says we’re done?”
Meanwhile for the Avalanche, they won their 3rd Cup in franchise history and their first since 2001.
