Skimmers Found in Gas Pumps at Three PBC Stations, Suspects Arrested

Three local gas stations and their customers recently fell victim to a scam, authorities say.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, 45-year-old Amauri Hernandez Espinosa and 31-year-old Pedro Hernandez installed skimmers on gas pumps at a Mobile gas station on Okeechobee Boulevard near Congress Avenue, a Valero gas station located near I-95 in Lake Worth Beach, as well as at a 7-Eleven store on South Congress Avenue in West Palm Beach.

Deputies arrested the duo on charges that include grand theft and possession of burglary tools, in addition to larceny, fraudulent use of a scan skimmer device, and property damage.

A report from West Palm Beach television station WPEC explains that a task force began video surveillance on the men a few weeks ago.

The men were arrested while trying to install skimmers at yet another gas station – a Chevron located on Blue Heron Blvd. off of I-95 in Riviera Beach.

They remain at the Palm Beach County Jail.
