Secret Service looks into protecting Mar-A-Lago

Election 2020 Trump

According to ABC News, the Secret Service field office in Miami has begun to look into physical reinforcements for President Trump’s club Mar-A- Lago in Palm Beach County.

A source with knowledge of the plan told reporters that officials are currently looking into “updates” for the portion of the residence that the president and Melania will be living in more frequently.

The source says that the residence needed an update as it was only used seasonally by the family, who described it as their winter home.

The residence was also used as a club, however, it is unclear how the Trump’s presence at the residence will effect gatherings there.

When reporters reached out to a spokesperson for the Secret Service for conformation on the plans, they were told that due to security reasons,  “the Secret Service does not discuss specifically or in general terms the means, methods or resources we utilize to carry out our protective mission.”

While President Trump has not conceded the presidency, he became a resident of Florida last year and is expected to live in Palm Beach County at least six months out of the year to maintain his status as a Florida resident when he is no longer the president.

Donald Trump also has a golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey and in New York where he is said to also plan to spend time.
