Andrew Brunette led the Panthers to the President’s Trophy and first playoff series win since 1996 but it apparently wasn’t enough to take the interim tag off his title.
According to Slater the Panthers are hiring Paul Maurice as the teams next head coach.

Maurice stepped down as head coach of the Winnipeg Jets last December after spending nearly eight years with the club compiling a 315-223-62 record.
The 55-year-old got his first head coaching job in 1995 with the Hartford Whalers. He then moved with the club to Carolina leading the Hurricanes. He then spent two seasons as the head coach with Toronto before returning to Carolina for a second stint.
Maurice has a career record of 775-681-99.
In addition to a coaching change Slater also reported the Panthers plans to change the teams goal song.
