
FAU starting quarterback Casey Thompson tore his ACL Saturday night against Clemson and will miss the remainder of the season according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Thompson, a sixth-year player, was in his first season with the Owls after transferring from Nebraska. Thompson played for FAU coach Tom Herman from 2019-2020 at Texas. Thompson was 50-79 for 509 yards and five touchdowns for FAU. Central Michigan transfer Daniel Richardson who replaced Thompson Saturday night in the loss at Clemson and is expected to take over as FAU’s signal caller. Richardson was 18 of 32 for 120 yards and threw one interception against the Tigers.
