Rapid tests that can detect COVID-19 within 15 minutes are now available in Palm Beach County schools, according to officials.

On Tuesday,  Superintendent Dr. Donald Fennoy had said the BinaxNOW rapid antigen test will be available in schools starting Monday Nov. 30th.

After a slight delay, 12,000 are available today and can be administered by school nurses, with parental permission, to students who develop flu-like symptoms while in school.

The BinaxNOW test is a FDA approved test that is reportedly more than 80% accurate.

Officials say the tests will only be used to test students who have symptoms of COVID-19.
