Panthers Fire Head Coach Bob Boughner

The Florida Panthers have fired Head Coach Bob Boughner after the team failed to make it to the playoffs. Team President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Dale Tallon made the announcement Sunday morning.

Tallon tweeted the following statement through the team’s account:

Assistant Coach Paul McFarland was also fired.

The Panthers finished the 2018-19 season 36-32-14.

According to multiple reports, Florida could target three-time Stanley Cup-winning coach Joel Quenneville to replace Bougner. Quenneville led the Chicago Blackhawks to three NHL titles before he was released in November.

He and Tallon worked together when Tallon was the Blackhawks’ General Manager.
