Panthers Defeat Capitals in OT, Advance to 2nd Round For First Time in 26 Years

For the first time since 1996, the Florida Panthers have advanced to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs!

It’s been a very long wait for Cats fans, but they finally got it done after Carter Verhaeghe’s overtime winner three minutes into the extra period.

The Panthers will now come home after closing out the series in Washington D.C. in 6 games and await the winner of the Tampa Bay Lightning vs Toronto Maple Leafs first round match up. That series is tied at 3 games a piece and the teams will play their decisive game 7 at 7pm, Saturday in Toronto.
