(New York, NY) — No one will be allowed into Times Square on New Year’s Eve to watch the ball drop this year. It’s another casualty of the ongoing pandemic in New York City. Organizers of the annual event are planning a virtually enhanced celebration. The Times Square Alliance says a very small group of in-person honorees, who are social distanced will be the only ones to witness the ball drop in person.
