Don’t panic just yet… After two intra-squad games, Clint Frazier hasn’t surfaced in the outfield due to a foot problem, but does not seem serious enough to keep him from being a DH. Clint is dealing with a little Plantar Fasciitis which hasn’t held him back according to manager Aaron Boone. When COVID-19 erased the first three months of the schedule, Frazier had a legitimate chance to be the Yankees’ Opening Day left fielder. It would have put Brett Gardner replacing Aaron Hicks in Center Field and Mike Tauchman replacing Aaron Judge in Right Field leaving Clint Frazier the job in Left Field. Well, that will not happen because Judge and Hicks are healthy now putting Frazier in a fight to be on the 30-man roster.
In other news from Spring Training 2.0, Masahiro Tanaka worked inside and outside yesterday. He is still taking it slowly and doing pretty good after suffering a concussion this past Saturday when hit in the head by a line drive off Giancarlo Stanton’s bat during a simulated game. Also, Right-Hander Jonathan Loaisiga completed his intake testing process and threw a bullpen session yesterday at Yankee Stadium.
Finally, Yankees placed DJ LeMahieu and Luis Cessa on the COVID-19 list and invited right-hander Adonis Rosa to spring training. LeMahieu and Cessa are quarantining at home and need to pass intake protocols for COVID-19 before entering the Stadium.
