Mets, Yankees Move Training Home After COVID Spike

After an increase of positive cases for COVID-19 for Florida in recent days, the percentage in New York City has done the opposite, dropping sharply.

What does that mean for baseball fans here?

Well, you can say goodbye to watching the New York Mets train in Port St. Lucie.

Because of the impact the coronavirus is having on our region, the team is packing it up and heading home to train there. That is, if the season ever gets going again.

All 30 MLB teams have closed their spring camps in Florida and Arizona over virus concerns.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo made the announcement Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Yankees were planning for their base to be their spring training complex in Tampa. However, they will also return to New York if there is a 2020 baseball season.

In addition, four members of the Yankees organization have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to multiple reports Saturday.

We just can’t seem to catch a break.
