Authorities have arrested an attorney after he allegedly attempted to extort an NFL player who was facing burglary charges.
50-year-old William Dean was arrested early this week.
According to the report, New York Giants cornerback DeAndre Baker was arrested in August on four counts of robbery with a firearm after he allegedly stole cash and other items from guest at a party in Miramar back in May.
Authorities reported that Dean who was representing the alleged victims, offered Baker a deal to pay each of his clients more than $266,000 in exchange for his victims to either recant on their allegations or to stop working with the police.
The alleged victims accordingly recanted on their statements saying that they did not get a clean look at the suspect who robbed them.
As a result, Baker was cleared of all charges.
Dean is now facing an extortion charge.
