It’s Official: The Oakland A’s Are Moving To Las Vegas

After discussing a move to Las Vegas for the past few years, it looks like Oakland A’s officials have finally gotten their wish. The team on Thursday reached an agreement to build a stadium near the Vegas Strip, A’s officials have announced.
The news comes from A’s president Dave Kaval, who says the goal is for the team to be playing in the new stadium by 2027. However, should the team decide to relocate sooner, the A’s could play home games at Las Vegas Ballpark until the new stadium is ready, Kaval says. Las Vegas Ballpark is the home of the Aviators, Oakland’s Triple A affiliate.
The team’s lease at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum ends after the 2024 season. Signing a short-term lease to stay there until the new stadium is ready is also a possibility, Kaval says.
This will be the 4th city that the A’s have played in during their franchise history. The others included Philadelphia, Kansas City, and Oakland.
