BOCA RATON, Fla. – (Sept. 16, 2019) – Florida Atlantic University athletics, in conjunction with Conference USA and College Football Playoff Foundation, will participate in the Extra Yards for Teachers promotion at Saturday’s contest against Wagner. Extra Yards for Teachers is the primary platform of the College Football Playoff Foundation and is a week-long event supporting teachers, centered around the college football regular season. FAU Athletics will be showing their support through several initiatives. The initiatives are listed below:

Discounted Admission for Teachers
FAU Athletics is offering all teachers 25% off tickets for the game. To receive the discount teachers can present a valid teacher ID or badge at the FAU Stadium Box Office by Gate 1 starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 21. The offer is valid for walkup sales only.

Teacher Recognition
During the game FAU Athletics will be honoring teachers from A.D. Henderson University School. Through Conference USA and the College Football Foundation, FAU Athletics will be presenting the school with $10,000 in Michael’s Gift cards.

FAU Athletics 3.0 Student Athlete Recognition
In keeping with the theme of education, FAU Athletics will be honoring all of its student athletes that earned a 3.0 during the spring semester of 2018 at halftime of the Wagner game. FAU student-athletes have collectively earned a 3.0 GPA for the last eight consecutive semesters.

C-USA and FAU Athletics are pleased to be participating in the College Football Foundation’s Extra Yard for Teachers initiative once again. The CFP Foundation is spearheading the charge towards elevating the teaching profession using the high profile of college football. Extra Yard for Teachers has three goals: 1) Teacher Recognition, 2) Direct Provision of Resources, and 3) Professional Development.

With the goal of decreasing teachers’ out-of-pocket expenses, the CFP Foundation seeks to provide funds directly into teachers’ classrooms. Conference USA is receiving $150,000 ($10,000 per member) from the College Football Playoff Foundation to give back to teachers in each of our C-USA markets.

Last year nearly 2,000 teachers at 160 schools throughout C-USA’s 14 member communities were directly impacted by this initiative. Conference USA and university name are thrilled to be participating in this important initiative with our C-USA Corporate Partner Michaels (http://www.michaels.com/). C-USA and Michaels will be providing classroom resources to teachers through Michaels’ gift cards.
