The Florida Atlantic University men’s basketball team steamrolled UTSA, 106-66, on Thursday night. The Owls are now one win away from making history, as FAU has a chance to clinch at least a share of the Conference USA Regular Season Championship and the No. 1 seed in the conference tourney on Saturday. The Owls will go for history against UTEP at home on 2 p.m.
The Owls continue their incredible 2022-23 season, improving their record to 25-3 on the year and 15-3 in C-USA action, remaining undefeated at home at 16-0. FAU is riding the fourth-longest home winning streak in the nation at 17 games. Tonight, the Owls’ offense exploded with the highest-scoring game this season. In the second half, FAU poured it on with 61 points – the most in a half this season – and shot a red hot 9-of-12 (75%) from 3-point range along with 21-of-33 (63.6%) from the field.“I thought the guys bounced back after a tough road loss,” FAU head coach Dusty May said. “We looked athletic, we looked together, and we looked like a team that’s ready for the stretch run. We still feel like we’re a team who hasn’t played our best basketball yet. We looked at some different things and some different lineups, and I thought our bench was phenomenal.”
The Owls will go for history as they close out the home portion of the regular season against UTEP on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. You can that right here on Fox Sports 640.
