A fake ‘Sportscenter’ twitter account briefly fooled media outlets into reporting that Colin Kaepernick had signed with the New York Jets.

The account used the SportsCenter logo and name and claimed Kaepernick had signed a 1 year, $9 million deal with the Jets, attributing the story to ESPN reporter Adam Schefter.  However, a closer look revealed the account’s Twitter handle to be @SuperToughScene and not a legit ESPN source.

The fake tweet briefly fooled a few media outlets who reported the story as fact before retracting it.

Kaepernick remains unsigned and has not had a job in the NFL since the end of the 2015 season.
