In case you missed it, the U.S. women’s national team put on a show yesterday in their opening game of the 2019 women’s World Cup in France.

And by put on a show, I mean absolutely dismantled the team from Thailand with an historic 13-0 drubbing.

It was the most goals ever scored by any team, men’s or women’s, in a shutout at a World Cup match. Alex Morgan, one of the stars for the defending world champs, also made history by becoming only the second woman to score 5 goals in a World Cup match.

Incredible stuff yesterday from our ladies in the red and white and blue. You really could not have asked for a better way to start their world title defense.

So it begs the question, will this tournament end in back to back championships?
