No sooner did Dellin Betances start his season, it’s already over.
In his return to the mound on Sunday after missing the first 150 games, the Yankees reliever partially tore his left Achilles tendon, in what some are calling a freak accident.
After striking out one of the Blue Jays, Betances began jumping in celebration, leading to the injury. Tests on Tuesday revealed the tear.
Fortunately, the team says surgery isn’t being considered at this time, but the right-hander will be put on conservative rehabilitation.
