A father who sprang into action to save the lives of his three children has been fired from both of his jobs due to his injuries.
On Monday, Anthony Jefferson was shopping inside of a Bronx car dealership with his three children when three gunmen began shooting inside of the building.
According to the report, Jefferson quickly threw his body over his children ages 2, 5, and 6 to shield them from the gunfire. Jefferson was shot three times and taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Jefferson has since been discharged from the hospital, however, his injuries have left him with the inability to walk.
He was shot twice in his boot and once in his thigh.
Doctors, where able to retrieve two of the bullets, however, Jefferson will require further surgery to remove the bullet that is still lodged in his leg.
His wife, Danica spoke with reports at TMZ and told them that their family is going through a hard time right now because Jefferson worked as a head painter at a maintenance company and also as a construction worker has been fired from both of his jobs due to the incident.
On top of that, their three children have been left “beyond traumatized” and require therapy.
Dania told TMZ that her children are afraid to go outside and that they are crying in their sleeping.
A friend of the family Serena Wingate, has set up a Gofundme page for medical bills and for the kids therapy sessions. So far, the page has raised $16,000 of its $24,000 goal.
