Add another stellar pass rusher to the books of the best offseason in Miami Dolphins history.

On Sunday, the Miami Dolphins announced they have signed DE Melvin Ingram 1yr-$5m deal  to help bolster their pass rush this season.

It was reported by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport that the 3x Pro Bowler will be taking his talents to South Beach.

Ingram started six regular season games for Kansas City last season, making 15 tackles and a sack. Ingram has tallied 51 sacks in his 9 year career and played his best ball when it mattered most after starting all three of the Chiefs’ playoff games and adding five tackles and two sacks.

Ingram is expected to serve as a third down/situational pass rusher. Miami already has Andrew Van Ginkle, Jaelan Phillips, and Emmanuel Ogbah on the front line that has been responsible for blitzing on 38% of opponents’ drop backs in 2021 – the second-highest rate in the league.

Ingram statistically has created at least 1 quarterback pressure every 8 snaps. While he might miss out on sack opportunities, a quarterback pressure, hit at times can be just as valuable. Look for Miami to use Ingram similar to how the Rams used DE/LB Von Miller last year.

The Dolphins focused mostly on revamping the offense, but GM Chris Grier and HC Mike McDaniel knows the importance of building through the trenches.

The Ingram signing could end up being another steal for the team, especially if the Dolphins plan on not only making but winning their first playoff game in 22 years.
