Child found in cage during animal rescue operation

Authorities in Tennessee are reporting that they discovered a child inside of a cage while performing an animal rescue operation.

While several details about the operation were not disclosed, authorities did say that the child was under the age of two, and that they were found inside one of many outbuildings on the property.

The child was said to be in the room with several large constricting snakes and a box of live mice.

While the child was filthy, they were unharmed and are now in DCS custody.

Deputies also reported finding several large marijuana plants and rescuing more than 100 animals from the home.

The child’s parents and a grandparent have since been taken into custody.
