
During Saturday, January 21’s divisional-round victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes sustained a high ankle sprain, a league source informed ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

An MRI performed on Mahomes’ right ankle on Sunday, January 22, confirmed the nature of the injury and revealed no other damage.
Still, Mahomes has stated that he plans to play against the Bengals on Sunday, January 29.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid mentioned that Mahomes had previously played through ankle injuries.
MRI today confirmed that Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain during Saturday’s win over the Jaguars, per league source. “Nothing more than that,” said one source, and Mahomes has said he plans to play in next Sunday’s AFC Championship Game.
