Carlos Alcaraz defeated Novak Djokovic 1-6, 7-6 (6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 to win Wimbledon on Sunday (July 16.)
The match ended up being the third-longest final in Wimbledon history, lasting four hours and 42 minutes.
At 20 years and 72 days old, Alcaraz is also the third-youngest men’s winner in the legendary tennis tournament in the Open era, which started in 1968.
Alcaraz said on the court after the match, “It’s a dream come true for me. It’s great to win, but even if I would have lost, I would be really proud of myself, making history in this beautiful tournament, playing a final against a legend of our sport. It’s incredible.”
