Starting with NBC in 1979, Bob Costas had planned to wrap up his career hosting the Super Bowl in 2017. But it wasn’t meant to be. The longtime broadcaster was let go at the last minute and now fans know why it happened.
Costas told ESPN that the network took issue with his comments earlier that year regarding brain injuries in the NFL, adding that he would not let his kids play football.
After clarifying his remarks, Costas said he received a text message claiming he “crossed the line,” and soon after he was pulled from the broadcast.
Despite the unceremonious nature of the decision, Costas wasn’t upset, admitting that he actually felt relief.
Have you ever been let go at work in a similar fashion? Can you identify with his feelings?
