After a week-long hiatus because of a coronavirus outbreak, the Miami Marlins stormed back Tuesday night with 15 replacement players, 7 of them being from the minor leagues, and gutted out a 4-0 win over the Baltimore Orioles.
The game was Miami’s first since July 26 after 18 players and 2 coaches tested positive for COVID-19 following a series in Philadelphia.
It caused some chaos for MLB as the Phillies, Yankees, Orioles, and Nationals all had to deal with scheduling changes just as the shortened season got started.
Marlins CEO Derek Jeter told reporters, “Unfortunately, we have seen first hand, just how contagious this virus is.”
Can MLB keep moving along without another team outbreak?
