Becky Hammon Becomes 1st Woman To Serve As NBA Head Coach

Spurs coach Becky Hammon made history once again Wednesday night – as the first woman to serve as head coach in an NBA game.

Hammon took over on the sidelines after Gregg Popovich was ejected in the second quarter.

Despite her history-making moment, Hammon said it was “business as usual”. Players such as DeMar DeRozan offered their support, telling reporters “She’s one of us.”

Hammon became the first woman to be hired as a full-time NBA assistant back in 2014, and has already interviewed for at least one head coaching job.

How long before Hammon lands a head coaching job? Will she be next in line when Popovich retires?
