Autistic Boy Succumbs to Injuries After Wandering into Local Lake

Tragedy struck a Boynton Beach family over the weekend, when a 5-year-old with autism died after going into a lake.

According to our news partner, WPTV NewsChannel 5, the unidentified boy was sound sensitive as well as non-verbal.

Officials with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office sent an alert on Saturday evening, as the child was last seen around 6:30 p.m. on Boynton Place Circle.

Additionally, Hatzalah of Palm Beach County, which is a volunteer search and rescue organization, assisted PBSO.

Rescuers attempted to save the the child at the scene.

However, he later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
