The American Airlines Arena will no longer be called the American Airlines Arena!

The company said Wednesday that it would remain the official airline of the Miami Heat but that it is relinquishing the naming rights of the downtown Miami arena, according to a statement obtained by a Miami Herald reporter.

This means that for the first time in over 20 years, the Miami Heat will technically not be playing in the AAA arena.

American Airlines has been the name on the front of the building since the arena opened on New Year’s Eve in 1999.

Miami-Dade County is reportedly in advanced talks with a national company to replace American Airlines.
