90-year-old Grandma first to receive COVID vaccine in UK

Virus Outbreak Britain

90-year-old grandmother of four, Margaret Keenan, became the first person in the world to receive the Pfizer Covid-19 jab after its clinical approval, as the NHS launched its biggest vaccine campaign on Tuesday. Keenan will turn 91 next week and said the vaccination felt like an early birthday present.

Keenan received the injection from the nurse May Parsons at her local hospital in Coventry. Vaccinations will be administered at dozens of hospital hubs across the country from Tuesday, nicknamed ‘V-Day’ by the health secretary, Matt Hancockis the first in the UK to receive the coronavirus vaccine. Of course Keenan will need a booster jab in a few weeks.

Meanwhile, here in the US we are still waiting for the FDA to grant emergency approval of the coronavirus vaccines. Also, airports in South Florida will soon be offering COVID tests for passengers and flight crews. They will not be mandatory or free.
