2 escaped inmates out of Tennessee found in Pompano Beach

The Broward County Sheriffs Office is reporting that they have apprehended two fugitives who escaped a Tennessee prison and fled to Florida.

36-year-old Robert Lee Brown and 34-year-old Christopher Osteen were arrested Sunday after authorities located a vehicle that was linked to them in the area of North Riverside Drive.

Officials made contact with the men who then fled the area. Brown was located a short time later, however, authorities were sent on an hours long manhunt for Osteen.

According to the report, the two men were said to have escaped from the Northwest Correctional Complex in Lake County, Tennessee on Friday. They then kidnapped a Kentucky highway employee before taking his truck. The men were also said to have stolen another truck from a resident of Henry County, Tennessee. Both vehicles have since been located in Florida.

Brown was said to have been serving an 18-year sentence for rape, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary and theft at the time of his escape. Osteen was said to have been serving an 8-year sentence aggravated burglary and aggravated assault.

New charges are pending.
