Pro Wrestling Star Chavo Guerrero Sr. Passes Away at Age 68 (1949-2017)

It is a sad day in the Guerrero Family as this past weekend we lost another legend and pioneer in Pro Wrestling. Chavo Guerrero Sr. aka Chavo Classic died Saturday at the age of 68 due to complications from liver cancer. Chavo Sr. was diagnosed with liver cancer just last month in January.

Born on January 7, 1949 in El Paso, Texas, Chavo Classic was the brother of WWE Hall of Famer Eddie Guerrero and father of former WWE Superstar Chavo Guerrero, Jr. He made a name for himself in the 1970s by feuding with his longtime rival “Rowdy” Roddy Piper a WWE Hall of Famer and becoming the oldest Superstar to win the original WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

Chavo Guerrero Sr. last appearance in wrestling came on an episode of Lucha Underground last year in 2016 helping Chavo Jr. in a losing effort to Rey Mysterio Jr.

Fox Sports 640 AM extends its condolences to Chavo Guerrero Sr.’s family, friends and fans.
